Great Britain ND (1928-41) P-363g PMG Very Fine 25 1 Pound
While listed under Great Britain the overprint actually was placed on the notes on Guernsey, one of the Channel Islands, after an emergency issue of notes had been authorized by the Germans. They requested 5,000 Pounds of British notes were to be deposited with them prior to issuance of the emergency banknotes. Officials used notes that had already been withdrawn and overstamped them before handing them over to the Germans, to make sure that they were not to be spent again. This is one of those notes. An historic remnant of World War II history. Because of the circumstances of their creation, high grade examples are rare.
