RUSSIA: Paul I, 1796-1801, AE 5 kopeks, 1793-EM, Cr-59.3, Brekke-9, part of Paul I's re-overstriking in the Catherine II (the Great) type and backdated, small flan crack, small reverse verdigris spot, EF, S. A very interesting coin, in which Catherine II had a regular 5 kopeks overstruck with a new cipher design and the new denomination of 10 kopeks. Catherine died before these coins could be released, and Paul I had them re-overstruck with the original Catherine 5 kopeks design and had them revalued back to 5 kopeks!
