Rev. coat of arms of Johannesburg with below motto on scroll ''Fortiter et recte.''Smith 253; Oliver 107Johannesburg is recorded as having distributed 53 medals in 15 ct. gold for the Coronation of George VI in 1937 to various dignitaries, officials, scholars, and servicemen. This particular medal was awarded by Donald W. Mackay, the Mayor of Johannesburg, to Clarence T.P. Gray who was one of the seven members of the Monetary Policy Committee.
