The 'Crassus' responsible for this issue was most likely Marcus Licinius Crassus (grandson of his more famous namesake, the triumvir Crassus) who was put in control of Crete and Cyrene under Marc Antony and later became consul in 30 BC, and proconsul of Macedonia in 29 BC, after transferring loyalty to Octavian before the Battle of Actium.
