Leo I BI 20mm. Cherson (or Constantinople), AD 457-474. D N LEO PERPET AG (sic), diademed, draped and cuirassed bust to right / SALVS R PVRLCA (sic), emperor standing to right, holding labarum and globe, bound captive before; CON in exergue. Cf. RIC X 657-64. 4.12g, 20mm, 6h.

This issue is, like others potentially struck locally at Cherson, traditionally catalogued as having been produced at Constantinople - in which case, specifically for use at Cherson. As with other such types, the crude fabric and style argue strongly in favour of reattribution to a local mint.
