PERSIA, Safavid Dynasty, Shah Tahmasp II (1135-1144 AH), AR Abassi (5.35 gm; 26 mm). obverse, phrase "minted in the name and prayer for success of the king of the century Tahmasp II", mint Tabriz, year 1136 (during the Afghan occupation of Persia), reverse, Shahadah for Prophet Mohamad and Shia Imam Ali at the center and name of the 12 Shia Imams on the outer ring. Superb style and strike. Finest Naskh and Nasta'liq Caligraphy. Choice EF. Lightly toned.
