Oliver Cromwell, three patinated metal seal impressions from Cromwell's signets, two showing the shield of arms topped by a demi-lion holding a fleur-de-lis on an esquire's helm and mantling, 21.27 x 18.14 & 16.63 x 15.57mm., another, smaller and simplified, 13.25 x 11.97mm. (Henfrey, Numismata Cromwelliana, pp. 179-183, pl. VI nos. 4, 5 & 7); another seal impression, unidentified, but presumed with a Cromwellian connection, the shield with two quarters each repeated, beaded border, 20.03 x 18.47mm., the now long-lost originals all believed to be by Thomas Simon, patinated, metal-filled electrotypes probably made c. 1870's, as made, good very fine (4)
Other examples of Cromwell seals which are believed to have been made by Henfrey when writing Numismata Cromwelliana, were recently sold at Dix, Noonan Webb, The North Yorkshire Moors Collection of British Coins [Marvin Lessen], 21st January 2021 (lots 1235,1236, 1241 & 1246). All are rare.
