Ireland, Victoria, Royal Visit (that never was), July 20th 1852, white metal medal, by W. Woodhouse, the medal for the visit of 1849 adapted, diademed head r., VICTORIA REGINA, rev. Hibernia with harp, stands amidst trophies, TO COMMEMORATE HER MAJESTY'S VISIT TO IRELAND, in ex., JULY 20th 1852, clearly stamped over AUGUST 1849, 43.5mm. (BHM.- ; cf. 2333), good very fine, very rare
The reverse design was copied from Mossop's second medal commemorating the visit of George IV to Ireland. Queen Victoria's second visit was the following year to attend the Dublin International Exhibition.
