France, Louis Philippe (1773–1850, King 1830-1848), the Marriage of Prince Ferdinand Philippe, duc d'Orléans (1810 - 1842) and Helene Luise Elisabeth, Duchess of Mecklenburg-Schwerin (1814 – 1858), silver medal, 1837, by Jacques-Édouard Gatteaux, laureate bust l. with oak wreath, rev. the couple, he in uniform, clasp hands over altar, DOMESTICA FELICITAS SPES PVBLICA, 57mm. (Collignon - ; BDM II, 208), struck c. 1845-1860, light tone on reverse but uneven on obverse, certified and graded by PCGS as Specimen 61 (and an unfortunate scratch on the reverse of the slab)
A small though important group of French medals in silver. The medals in the lots 676 – 683 have been certified and graded by PCGS who have have marked each item as "Main Ag" which the cataloguers can only assume refers to the poinçon on the edge of each, a Hand and the word ARGENT, the mark for the period 1845-1860. The slabbing process means that the cataloguers have been unable to see the edges and have not been able to get an exact measurement or weight. Large silver medals of this period are all extremely rare and this is a very good group.

Estimate: 350 - 500 GBP
