Sport: Athletics, AAA [Amateur Athletic Association], British Empire v. USA, July 19th 1924, gilt-metal and enamel referee's badge, clasp REFEREE, 29mm.; President's badge, 1927, gilt-metal, clasp "PRESIDENT 1927", 26mm., very fine (2)
The British Empire vs. USA match was held at Stamford Brook on Saturday 19 July 1924, following the Paris Olympic Games from which the Americans were returning. It is famously remembered for the one-mile relay when Eric Liddell repeated his Paris Gold Medal success and again won. The long-term President of the AAA was Lord Desborough, though the second item could well be a badge for a President at a more local level.
