Although the obverse legend and city ethnic are virtually illegible on this coin, the portrait of Julia Procula is unmistakable, making the attribution to this city certain. This coin depicting Julia Procula is one of a series honoring noteworthy citizens. Based on the similarity of Procula's hairstyle with that of Faustina Sr., Wroth (Numismatic Review, May 1894, pp. 226-227) dated the coin to the period of the later Antonines. All coins of Procula were issued by the strategos Apollonius.
