German States, Bavaria, Ludwig II, 1864-1886. Silver medal awarded to one of the most famous Greek painters of the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century, the most important representative of the so called "Munich School of Painting", George Iakovidis (1853-1932) on 1881 at the Exhibition of the Artistic Society of Munich for his oil painting "KREOUSSA". This medal is known as "big silver medal" (See Catalogue of the Retrospective Exhibition of George Iakovidis, National Gallery, Athens 2005-2006, Curator Miss Olga Mentzafou-Polyzou, p. 107, 131-133). Obverse: Head of Ludwig II, King of Bavaria. Reverse: Velerefontis on Pegasus and legend: Ehrenmünze der Königl . Bayer.
