Northumbria, Æthelred II (c. 841-843-849/50), AE Styca, Wulfred, blundered and retrograde legends, EDII.I.VD [for +EDILRED REX], saltire superimposed on plain cross monogram (Pirie 1), rev. blundered and retrograde legends D:.[ ]ILEXEV [for +VVLFRED], plain cross (Pirie 7a), 0.99g, 2h (Pirie 2082, [cf. 'Group D', pp. 259 and Plate LII, no. 52]; Abramson 998-999; North 188; Spink 868), light verdigris on a chocolate brown elliptical flan, very fine, and with PAS recording.
