The Owen-Rooke Collection | Cnut 'the Great' (1016-1035/36), 'Short Cross' Type, Penny, 1029/30-1035/36, Wallingford, Æthelwine, diademed and draped bust left, lys-tipped sceptre before, rev. + ÆGELPINE ON PEL, voided short cross, pellet at centre, 1.14g, 9h (SCBI 9 [Ashmolean], 730; North 790; Spink 1159), two peck marks to the reverse, otherwise with a pleasing cabinet tone, the portrait handsomely bold, a really pleasingly good very fine to extremely fine in parts, an extremely rare reading, known from only one other coin impounded in the Ashmolean Museum.
