Provenance
The Owen-Rooke Collection of Oxfordshire Pennies (978-1272),
Examples offered as part of job lots at the L A Lawrence II (1951); V J E Ryan (1952); and H W Taffs (1956) are all possible candidates as an earlier pedigree for this coin, but all sadly lack definitive illustrations. The Capt. Arnot specimen sold in 1995 is an extraordinarily similar coin for general striking weakness and shape of flan, but is clearly not the same as the present coin.
Estimate: £240 - £300
