Elizabeth I (1558-1603), Mestrelle's Milled Issue, Sixpence, 1562, Tower [Upper House], crowned large broad bust left, wearing elaborate bodice, small rose behind, rev. square-topped shield over long cross fourchée, 6h, m.m. star (North 2027; Spink 2596), punched to the reverse at centre, some softness in parts, otherwise with a most pleasing portrait, bold very fine.
