Charles I (1625-1649), Briot's Second Milled Issue, Halfcrown, 1638-1639, Tower (under King), King on horseback right, pebbly ground below, rev. crowned oval garnished shield, dividing crowned C-R, lozenge stops, 14.66g, 6h, m.m. anchor and B (Brooker 724; North 2304; Spink 2858), gouges and scratches in antiquity, the edge flattened and upset at 6 o'clock, otherwise darkly cabinet toned, struck details almost very fine, rare.
