William III (1694-1702), Great Recoinage, Crown, 1696 OCTAVO, first laureate and draped bust right, rev. crowned shields cruciform, six strings to harp, edge lettered downwards, 28.96g, 6h (ESC 89; Bull 995; Spink 3470), some very faint flecking to fields and mostly flat, nevertheless with a light tone, fine; another, seven strings to harp, downwards lettered edge, 29.37g, 6h (ESC 89; Bull 995; Spink 3470), cleaned and with pitted surfaces, fine; another, 1696 OCTAVO, third laureate and draped bust right, rev. crowned shields cruciform, downwards lettered edge, 29.41g, 5h (ESC 94; Bull 1004; Spink 3472), haymarked and largely rubbed, more so to the reverse, yet with a faint tone, bolder fine; another, 1700 DECIMO TERTIO, third bust variety left, rev. crowned shields cruciform, eight strings to harp, edge lettered downwards, 29.20g, 5h (ESC 97; Bull 1010; Spink 3474), cross graffitied to the bust and largely flat, yet with a uniform tone, fine (4).
