PHOENICIA, Tyre. 126/5 BC-AD 65/6. AR Shekel (24mm, 14.00 g, 1h). Dated CY 110 (17/6 BC). Laureate bust of Melkart right / Eagle standing left on prow, palm over right wing; to left, PI (date) above club; KAP monogram to right, beth between legs. Rouvier 2082 var. (KP, not monogram); BMC 186 var. (aleph between legs); HGC 10, 357; DCA 920. VF, lightly toned, off center, deposits.

From CY 113, the shekels of Tyre always have the letters KP engraved in the field to the right of the eagle. The KP first appeared on some issues of CY 109, but only was used sporadically, and sometimes in the form of a KAP monogram, as here.
