(x) George III (1760-1820), 'Rose' Guinea, 1779, fourth laureate head right, rev. crowned garnished shield, eight strings to harp, chevron milled edge, 8.37g [129.2grns], 6h (MCE 383; Farey 1190; EGC 698; Spink 3728), the reverse struck from a rusted die, occasional bagmarks, otherwise lustrous, a pleasingly bold very fine, with hints of peripheral tone.
