George III (1760-1820), 'Spade' Half-Guinea, 1789, fifth laureate head right, rev. crowned 'spade' shield, edge obliquely milled, 4.19g, 12h (MCE 429; EGC 832 [R2]; Spink 3735), lightly contact marked to face with some resultant brightness, otherwise lightly toned, a really pleasingly bold very fine, a surprising rarity in the series.
