MAXIMILIAN JOSEPH - CHURFÜRST ZU PFALZBAIERN Bust of Maximilian I Joseph right // LOHN / DES / FLEIßES Oak wreath border. An exceedingly scarce Medal struck from 1/2 Taler dies and almost exclusively encountered in 5 Ducat weight when seen in gold, with only a single other instance we've been able to locate of a similar 4 Ducat dating to a 2008 Künker auction. Pleasing appearances abound this resplendent specimen, its aesthetic caliber lifted by the Baroque legends to each side and the finely articulated wreath. With evidence of the noted mount largely obscured at the denticles, we anticipate great fervor for this sought-after award Medal.
