Charles II gold "Elephant" 2 Guineas 1664 AU Details (Obverse Cleaned) NGC, KM425.2, Fr-285, S-3334, Schneider-430. Elephant below bust. A more collectible example of this already scarce type, distinguished by the instantly recognizable addition of an elephant below Charles II's regal bust; keeping with tradition and denoting the origin of specie from the Guinea region of West Africa. Despite its conditional qualifier, it is an especially rare occasion that a clearly cleaned coin nonetheless maintains such a palpable visual allure as does the piece seen here, maintaining the majority of its near-Mint State appeal. As such, we anticipate a commendable collector response.
