Lombardy - Venetia. Ferdinand I gold Sovrano 1839-A MS64 NGC, Vienna mint, KM-C21.1, Fr-482, Gig-8 (R2). A flashy and exceedingly scarce denomination when in comparable levels of preservation, seemingly deserving of a Prooflike designation. Precluded from an even loftier assignment by scant instances of wisps to the deep, golden expanses. Hardly a trace of weakness is detected through the raised features while a gentle frost resides across Ferdinand's sensitive portrait. With only a single other Mint State specimen, the MS61 we handled in last year's CSNS auction, we anticipate advanced consideration for a piece three-points finer.
