Japan
Manen gold Oban (10 Ryo) ND (1860-1862) MS61 PCGS, Edo or Kyoto mint, KM-C24a.2, Fr-7, JNDA 09-10. 136x80mm. 112.79gm. With hand-made horizontal crenulations. A highly expressive representative of a seldom seen type and last in this iconic series. Having seen little to no use in commerce as confirmed by its Mint State assignment and most appreciable appearances via mellowed golden fields and largely present calligraphy with only minor flaking, as is typical of the type. Always of interest to collectors, but especially so this fine, and one of only a handful of these pre-Meiji era gold pieces of this quality available this year.
