Philip V gold 8 Escudos 1743/2 Mo-MF MS61 NGC, Mexico City mint, cf. KM148 (overdate unlisted), Cal-2246, Onza-440 (Very Rare). A seldom-seen overdate with less than a handful of appearances in major auctions, apparently missing from both the Eliasberg and Rudman collections, with this being only the second example we have handled. Conservatively graded, taking into consideration the impressively glossy outer peripheries and crackling mint bloom around the bust. The shield is flanked by a lovely satin sheen that cartwheels throughout. A coveted piece by nature, but even more disputed when worthy of the most discerning coin cabinets.
