Antoninus Pius, as Augustus (AD 138-161). AV aureus (19mm, 7.18 gm, 5h). NGC VF 5/5 - 3/5, light scratches. Rome, AD 147-148. ANTONINVS AVG-PIVS P P TR P XI, laureate head of Antoninus Pius right / C-OS-IIII, Antoninus Pius standing facing, veiled head left, volumen in left hand, sacrificing from patera in right hand over tripod to left; VO-TA across fields. Calicó 1698. RIC 170a. The gentle chattering in the fields does not detract from the cartwheeling brilliance throughout the surfaces and the bold designs.
