Constantine VI and Irene (AD 787-797), with Leo III, Constantine V, and Leo IV. AV solidus (21mm, 4.41 gm, 6h). NGC MS 3/5 - 4/5. Constantinople, AD 780-790. S IRIh-I AVΓ' MI-AVG', crowned facing busts of Constantine VI (on left), wearing chlamys pinned at right shoulder, globus cruciger in right hand, and Irene (on right), wearing loros and crown with four pinnacles and cross, transverse cruciform scepter in left hand, globus cruciger in right; pellet between, cross between above / COhS'-tIhOS-C' b' b', Leo III, Constantine V and Leo IV seated facing, each wearing crown and chlamys. Sear 1593. Gently struck but virtually no signs of wear with brilliant lemony luster.
