British Outpost. George III copper Mint Error - Mule Ackey ND (1796) MS63 Brown NGC, FT-11. Struck using the obverse die of a Gold Coast 1796 Ackey (KM-Tn6) and a reverse die of a French 1792 2 Sols Token (KM-Tn25). On the obverse, 'PARLIAMENT' correctly spelled in the legend, featuring the Coat of Arms of the Company of Merchants Trading to Africa. An intriguing and rare combination exhibiting Choice espresso fields, whose combination was known to David Vice but never having been seen by the author before publication of his seminal reference The Coinage of British West Africa & St. Helena 1684-1958. As such, this offering remains an outstanding opportunity for the discerning error coin collector.
