Mexico
Charles III gold 8 Escudos 1781 Mo-FF MS62 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM156.2, Cal-2012. The watery fields flash exciting reflectivity, especially on the reverse. The gold coloration is light and bright, except for some welcome orange patina among the periphery of the obverse. The design centers exhibit very slight strike softness, but overall the detail is laudably bold. The luster displays full coverage and is emboldened by this example's prooflike qualities. Not only is this coin the "top pop" at both NGC and PCGS, it is the only example of this issue that has received any Mint State grade. This rare treasure is a must-have for the Mexican collector seeking only the finest of quality.
