EL EXMOS S D GUADALUPE VICTORIA PRESID EIO DLA Uniformed bust of General Guadalupe Victoria // REPUBLICA MEXICANA Republican eagle atop cactus grasping snake in the "Hookneck" position. A rare and beautiful Medal honoring Mexico's first President, which also features a wonderful depiction of the popular Hookneck-style eagle on the reverse. The surfaces are bright and flashy and the design details are deeply engraved. The chiseled die-work seen on the obverse bust is particularly remarkable. Metallic-silver centers give way to bold blue/green tones around the legends. Very seldom do these spectacular pieces of Mexican medallic history come to auction and this particular example is surely among the most well-preserved extant.
