South Africa
Griquatown. British Colony silver Proof 10 Pence ND (1815-1816) PR62 Cameo NGC, KM-Tn5, Hern-GT1. A historically important silver denomination from the Missionary Series, made for the London Mission Society's outpost of Griquatown (founded in 1805) and thus representing the official first coinage of South Africa. The slate fields admit a multitude of wisps from handling, yet are delightfully luminous and carry an underlying golden hue punctuated on the reverse by fierce azure toning.
