Confederation brass Essai 5 Francs 1855 MS64 NGC, cf. KM-XE5 (for silver), HMZ-2-1229d. Reeded edge. Designed by Bovy and struck by Huguenin Frères in Neuchâtel as a proposal for Swiss coinage. An elusive striking more often encountered in silver, with the few extant brass emissions surfacing once every few years. A top-tier specimen dressed in notable reflectivity and gently muted in a surprisingly pleasing haze. When titled, the device project towards the view in semi-medallic fashion, indicating the great care taken in the piece's production that will certainly contribute to an advanced bid.
