THRACE, Philippopolis. Septimius Severus. AD 193-211. Æ (29mm, 16.96 g, 11h). Laureate and cuirassed bust right, gorgoneion on breastplate, seen from the front / River-god Hebrus reclining left under tree, left hand resting on overturned urn from which water flows; right hand on prow of ship; in exergue, four figures. Varbanov, Philippopolis XIII.55.3 corr. (obv. description, this coin); Mouchmov, Philippopolis 291; Varbanov 1208 (illus. as 1206). Dark green patina, minor porosity, small deposit on obverse. Fine. Rare.
