Alessandro VII (1655-1667) Medaglia 1659 Fabio Chigi di Siena a ricordo della Peste Opus: Gioacchino Francesco Travani - Miselli 567 AE dorato (g 160 - Ø 99mm) Fusione antica, magnifico esemplare dalla splendida doratura d'epoca. Eseguito dal Travani sul disegno del Bernini. Al rovescio la storia racconta la lotta tra il leone e Androclo al Circo Massimo che fu graziato nel combattimento. Si dice che Androclo curò il leone ferito da una spina nella zampa e lui riconobbe il gesto ed in combattimento restò immobile dopodiche Androclo e il leone vennero liberati e insieme uscirono dalla città. Antique cast, magnificient example with a delicate vintage golden gilding. Realized by Travani based on a design by Bernini. On reverse the story of fight between the lion and Androcles, graced during the fight. The legend says Androcles had once cured the lion, wounded by thorn in the paw; the lion was grateful so during the fight he stayed still. Both Androcles and the lion were freed and together they exited the city.
