BURMA. Tok Coinage, ca. 1600-1889.
Mitchiner-pg. 360-2. 19 pieces in lot. Comprised of various styles of cast silver Tok currency including the "Pig Mouth" style, "Leaf" style and the later "Flower Money". Also included is a nice example of "Tin Hat" money (Mitchiner-pg. 411), and an interesting piece seemingly made of low quality silver and cast in a horse shoe shape and stamped with a multitude of marks, including some which appear on pack saddle Sycee of Yunnan Province in China. Overall the pieces are in a good state of preservation though some of the more fragile Toks have taken some damage. A few specimens are Ex: Kneedler Collection. Should be examined. Retail value of about $1,000.SOLD AS IS/NO RETURNS. FINE-VERY FINE.
