Drachm signed by Telephantos late V-mid IV century BC, AR 5.99 g. Helmeted head of Athena r.; in l. field, [ΤΗ]. Rev. Φ – Α / Ρ – [Σ] partially retrograde Warrior on horseback r., wearing petasus, holding mace over shoulder; in exergue, ΤΗ. Lavva 81b corr. (V42/R49; obverse die is incorrectly listed as V41) = SNG Lockett 1604 (this coin). BCD Thessaly II, 638 (this obverse die).
Lovely old cabinet tone. An unobtrusive trace of double strike and a minor edge
nick at twelve o'clock on obverse, almost invisible marks on reverse,
otherwise extremely fine
