HONG KONG. Chartered Bank of India, Australia & China 100 Dollars, 1.9.1927. P-45.
One of the most significant offerings we have handled for banknotes of Hong Kong. The note is rare in any form and the September First, 1927 date is reportedly unique. The date is the last known for the design according to the SCWPM. Vignettes of a bridge in the foreground of a waterfall at left, pavilion at right and arms at top center in black with orange ray under-print at lower center. Detailed counters in English and Chinese with W&S imprint at lower center. Back in a deep mauve color with central vignette of a three story bank building. Large purple cancellation stamps vertically at center and punch cancels at the signatures. Some blue ink at upper left center of back bleeding through to the front. A piece that would enhance even the finest of collections. PMG Extremely Fine 40 EPQ.
