Philippines (under Spain), 8 reales, Isabel II, crowned "Y.II" countermark (Type VI, 1834-37) on volcano side of a Santiago, Chile, "volcano" peso, 1834 IJ, NGC AU 50, c/s AU standard (Coleccion Val Y Mexia label). KM-108; Cal-668. Nearly complete and somewhat lightly struck countermark on a very attractively toned host in choice grade (not far from a census-topping AU 55 that recently sold). Pedigreed to the Coleccion Val y Mexia (stated on special label).
