Watch List notes:

Great Britain, copper alloy Admiral Vernon medal, 1739, arms / Porto Bello, ex-Adams. AC-PB2C. 16.45 grams; 39 mm. Choice XF+ in an evenly dark color, interesting for the fact that the lion and unicorn in the unusually fine-style coat of arms on obverse both have exaggerated "male parts" (perhaps satirical), not to mention the overtly Chinese-style face on the lion (indicative of an Asian engraver?). XRF: 43.87% copper, 49.65% zinc, 5.42% lead. Pedigreed to the John Adams Collection (with his handwritten tag), acquired from Richard August in 1985.
