Great Britain, small copper alloy Admiral Vernon medal, 1739, Vernon / Porto Bello, ex-Adams. AC-PBv15L. 5.70 grams; 26 mm. Scarce variety (only eight reported), AXF with some spots of brassy luster, with more tin content than most, "comic book" details with ships "like bathtub toys" (Adams-Chao). XRF: 44.95% copper, 44.63% zinc, 7.28% lead, 2.08% tin. Pedigreed to the John Adams Collection (with his handwritten tag).
