Great Britain, copper alloy Admiral Vernon medal, 1739, Vernon / Porto Bello, ex-Adams, ex-Newman. AC-PBv22S. 15.20 grams; 37 mm. AU with brassy luster around details, apparently an early die-state as lacking the "injuries" reported in Adams-Chao for later states. XRF: 39.09% copper, 53.92% zinc, 4.90% lead. Pedigreed to the John Adams Collection (with his handwritten tag) and to the Eric P. Newman Collection (Heritage auction of May 2014, with original lot-tag 30690).
