Great Britain, silvered copper alloy Admiral Vernon medal, 1739, Vernon / Porto Bello, ex-Adams. AC-PBv47SS. 11.78 grams; 38 mm. Scarce variety (only seven reported) in choice AU+ grade with sharp details and nice silver color (some areas darker), neatly dentillated rims, which Adams-Chao states is "only the second time in this sub-series." XRF: 0.862% silver, 42.32% copper, 49.73% zinc, 6.23% lead. Pedigreed to the John Adams Collection (with his handwritten tag) and to Stack's The New York Americana Sale (January 2010), with original lot-tag 4675.
