Cuzco, Peru, silver 4R-sized medal, 1839, by J. Cadagan, PCGS MS63, finest and only example in PCGS census, ex-Clyde Hubbard, ex-Pat Johnson. Fonrobert-unl; Bustamente-839.08. Obverse with capped Liberty bust facing right in wreath; reverse with sun rising over hills with long rays under ribbon that says EL GOBIE . ALA . JUSTICIA below legend * ECSAM . DADO POR J. CADAGAN CUZCO 1839 *; corded edge. Very lustrous and well struck example of this rare medal featuring a bust similar to those used on the United States Capped Bust Liberty coinage series, rich blue toning with spots of gold and light red, faint hairlines in reverse fields. Pedigreed to the Pat Johnson Collection (stated on label), purchased privately from Clyde Hubbard in 1969.
