USA, large bronze medal, 1925, Paul Revere / Revolutionary War Sesquicentennial, by Anthony de Francisci, issued by the American Numismatic Society, number 139/173, PCGS SP62, finest and only example in PCGS census. Miller-45. Low-mintage medal issued by the American Numismatic Society to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Paul Revere's famous midnight ride and the start of the Revolutionary War; the engraver of this medal, Anthony de Francisci, also designed the US Peace dollar. Obverse: left-facing bust of Paul Revere above sword wrapped in ribbon and an urn, PAVL.REVERE above, PATRIOT SILVERSMITH to left, .1735. / .1818. and SOLDIER-ENGRAVER to right. Reverse: Paul Revere standing beside his horse, viewing a town in the distance, PAVL REVERE SESQVI-CENTENNIAL 1925 above, .A.N.S. in exergue, A F flanking. Edge: plain, numbered 139 incuse. Choice piece with even bronze coloration throughout.
