Payment appropriation certificate made out to Alex Collins, a gunner in the Texas Navy (further research could identify what ship he served on), when Texas was its own independent nation. Signed by the Republic of Texas Comptroller Samuel B Shank and Treasurer James Wright Simmons with cross cut cancellations over their signatures. Choice original paper quality and with strong inked signatures.
