Guatemala, Banco Colombiano, 50 pesos, 25-4-1889, series Va., serial 3206, PMG Fine 15 Net. Pick-S125b. The Banco Colombiano (represented in this lot along with the following two lots) was established in 1878 by Colombian investors to support Guatemalan coffee producers. This finely designed series of bank notes was made by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. A vignette of an armored ancient figure stands at left holding a Phrygian cap atop a pole while the central vignette of a coffee plantation is flanked by the arms of Guatemala and Colombia, symbolizing the bank's connection between the two countries; the underprint is pale purple. Circulated with a small tape repair at the center to reinforce the fold there; still retaining a bold design throughout. We've offered other denominations from this popular series before, but this is the first of the 50 pesos we've handled. [url=https://www.pmgnotes.com/certlookup/2178454-002/15
