Mexico City, Mexico, cob 8 reales, 1623/2 D, very rare. S-M18a; KM-45; Cal-1299. 26.72 grams. Satin-smooth surfaces (100% corrosion-free) but with much peripheral flatness (unevenly thick at edge), the 3 of the date nevertheless full and clear with weak but certain under-digit 2 (possibly also 2/1), upper part of shield and most of cross choice. Recovered from: "Lucayan Beach Wreck," sunk ca. 1628 off Grand Bahama Island
