Mexico City, Mexico, 4 reales, Charles-Joanna, "Late Series," assayer G to right, mintmark M to left (M-G), king's name as CHAROLVS, NGC AU details / cleaned. Nesmith-50 for type; Cal-127; S-M5; KM-18. 13.62 grams. Typically round, struck on a large flan, unusual final stop on pillars side of double annulets and flower (Nesmith g) and desirable early CHAROLVS spelling, probably from the "Golden Fleece wreck" (ca. 1550). Pedigreed to the Clyde Hubbard Collection of Mexican Charles-Joanna Coinage (stated on label). Accompanied by original tag or holder.
