Potosi, Bolivia, cob 2 reales, 1623 with date rendered as "(16)ZIII," assayer not visible, quadrants of cross transposed, very rare. S-P22 or P22a; KM-unl; Cal-unl. 4.46 grams. Very bold full III of date above cross but also bold upside-down V and II to left of shield (actually matching the other known 1623 we sold in Auction 22, but shifted inward from doubling, presumably an incorrect spelling within the word HISPANIARVM), with most of cross and shield but part of edge corroded away, the assayer not visible but probably T/P as was clear on the previous example.
Estimate: 250 - 375 USD
